What will you do for YOU in 2013?
I'm not much of a resolution maker, but I do have a goal to be kinder to my skin...starting last night. The cruel reality dawned hard yesterday when Mike and I went for a wintery stroll in single digit temps. The day was bright and gorgeous...my skin, not so much.
My dry skin was begging for something hydrating, deep penetrating and nourishing! My daughter had raved about a DIY facial of honey and coconut oil...I took this idea a little further for my "mature" skin.
Break out the big guns: Manuka honey, coconut oil and Frankincense!
I'll be celebrating the upcoming New Year with a new resolution to take better care of my skin. I know I'm not alone in this quest so here's a fabulous new recipe that addresses aging, moisture and skin breakouts all in the same formula!
If you haven't heard of Manuka honey from New Zealand, it's time you did! Manuka is a "live" honey of medicinal quality. It's sweet yes, but because it's produced by bees foraging on Tea Tree or Manuka bushes, it has a bit of a Melaleuca taste to it. This honey has high anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, it's used to heal severe burns or open wounds and, there's hundreds of clinical studies backing it's superior healing properties. Here's an article written by the Medicine Hunter about Manuka honey.
Along with the anti-bacterial properties of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, you're looking at fantastic properties for those of you prone to breakouts!
For aging skin, Manuka honey penetrates deep, soothing and moisturizing while doing a fabulous job of cleansing at the same time. You'll actually feel a small bit of a sting to this honey when it's on your skin...this is because it's "active". You can find this brand of Manuka Honey in my Amazon Store!
I won't go into too much detail about our friend, the jar of Organic, Extra Virgin, Cold Pressed Coconut Oil...we're all pretty much convinced by now that coconut oil is extremely beneficial for our skin, brain and overall health.
Frankincense is the great "regenerative" essential oil. It's powerful anti-aging and anti-cancer properties (sesquiterpenes) make it the perfect addition to this super "regenerative" facial! Click Here to see how you can get a FREE full size bottle of PURE Frankincense, a limited offer thru December 2012!
Without further ado, here's the very simple recipe for brighter, healthier, clear skin! Which by the way is wonderful for dry hands, and whole body moisturizing. Simply increase amounts of ingredients.
For Facial Treatment
1 teaspoon Manuka Honey
1 teaspoon Coconut Oil
2 drops Frankincense
Mix in the palm of your hand and spread an even layer on your freshly washed face. Let the tasty blend (YUM) sit on your skin for 10 minutes and rinse. No need to wash skin afterwards.
I hope you enjoy this as much as my face did...
Happy 2013!
Rebecca

I saw the honey in our local Earth Fare store. I didn't get it for some reason; probably got distracted. Definitely on my list this week.
ReplyDeleteDo you think it will help me???
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, you would love it!
DeleteJust received my free bottle of Frankincense today and I immediately mixed and applied this facial treatment. I love it! I think my face is glowing! It feels not only soft but rejuvenated. I am going to do this at least a couple of times a week. Thanks for your recipe and I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, happy you like this potion as much as I do :)) Enjoy!
DeleteRebecca, does the brand of Manuka honey matter? When I look on Amazon I see three top rated honeys and one is significantly cheaper. The reviews on all three are very similar. I just want an opinion from you, someone I trust!
ReplyDeleteMariane, if you're just using the honey for a facial treatment...you're okay to buy a good organic, raw honey. If you're going to invest in a good honey though, I feel its worth it to get a good "live" honey like Manuka to be used for various things, including MEDICINAL use. I feel you'll get more for your money with Manuka, it's fabulous and amazing IMHO :))
DeleteSays that Frankincense is good for epilepsy, do you know any thing about this? My daugher's Boyfriend has this condition.
ReplyDeletePure Frankincense is a regenerative oil ~ it's properties are far reaching. I believe Frankincense can improve your daughter's boyfriends condition....just be sure to use 100% pure product like doTERRA's Frankincense. This is a very special oil, it's not easy to get and it's not inexpensive however, extremely valuable to have in every household!
